One of the common criticisms of TRC is that Adam’s sexuality is never confirmed or stated and that he never gives it any clarification narratively. We all know he’s bisexual, but neither he or the narrative ever state it, but I just had an interesting thought.
Upon rereading the series, it kind of seems like Adam was perhaps always aware he was attracted to guys. He comments on the physical attractiveness of guys in the same way he does toward girls (he calls Ronan handsome a lot; it’s just his personality he finds off-putting initially, he keeps a photo of a male model in his car, and he was definitely checking out Greenmantle before he realized he was Evil). Not only this, but when he realizes Ronan likes him, the only thing he thinks is that he’s unknowable. He doesn’t think about how he couldn’t return Ronan’s feelings because he doesn’t like guys. Adam literally just doesn’t think he’s capable of love, especially after the brutal rejection from Blue. He pays enough attention to Ronan to notice that he’s looking at him. Before him and Ronan get together, Adam flirts up a storm. He lets Ronan stroke his hand and holds his gaze as he does it, continuously holds prolonged eye contact with him, makes comments like “with a dreamer.” Adam just doesn’t realize this is something he can actually have or deserve until Ronan kisses him.
Adam was bi the whole time. In retrospect, it seems like he knew it. Sexuality was never an issue for him; love was.
sound on, his voice is something else.
this feels like if all of humanity were to reset and humans had forgotten how everything worked and had to teach each other what things were. this is the Wall turorial
